I understand fear. It has at times gripped me to the point where I have experienced pain attacks. People that know me are surprised to find that out about me. How can a guy that is so well liked and popular be afraid of anything? I used to wake up in the mornings afraid to start my day because I was afraid of facing the world. I would roll the covers over my head shaking with fear. Then it dawned on me that bible says in 2 Timothy 1:7 "God has not given us a spirit of fear, but a spirit of power, love and a sound mind." When I read that I realized that if God didn't give this fear to me then who did? The bible says in the book of John 10:10 "the thief (the devil) comes only to kill, steal and destroy." If God is not the author of this fear that is upon me then that leaves only one conclusion. The devil; The truth is that fear can kill you. Fear steals from you and fear can destroy you! I want to encourage you right now that the fear that you are experiencing right now is NOT from God.
Fear is a spirit that can overtake you and cripple you to point of madness. I encourage you to ask Jesus to release you from that spirit of fear. Jesus wants the best for you and fear is not in your future. Here's a scripture that I want you to memorize and keep with you. It comes from Philippians 4:19 "I can do all things through Christ who strengthen me." That is a promise straight out of the word of God. The fact that you are a child of God you have nothing to be afraid of. Sure it's o.k. to be a little afraid but when your fears become overwhelming this is a problem.
Fear is based on dealing with the 'unknowns' in life. When you don't know what's coming next fear can magnify the issues of life. When you understand that God has order yours footsteps, knows the plans for your life and has purposed to give you a hope and a future, (Jeremiah 29) you can then have peace. No matter how bad it gets God is with you. The bible says in Psalms 34:19 "a righteous man may have many troubles but the Lord will deliver him out of them all." God is with you and you have nothing to be afraid about.
Whatever it is God will deliver you from the results of it! Let me pray for you. Lord Jesus I pray that this spirit of fear be broken. You said that you haven't given us a spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind. Pray your blessings and strength over this child of God. I ask that you reveal your protective hand. Help us understand that when we know that you are in control we have nothing to fear. We thank you and acknowledge you as the God of the universe. Amen.
