The three fundamental body types are equally applicable to both men and women, although the distribution of body fat tends to vary between the two sexes. For example, when they gain weight, mesomorph women tend to put on the extra pounds around the hips and thighs, whereas mesomorph men will gain proportionately more around the tummy. On the other hand, both endomorph men and women share a similar tendency to put on weight around the tummy. It's also worth pointing out that within a body type, it's quite normal for a healthy woman to carry more body fat than a healthy man. This is simply one of the differentiating features that make men and women different. A mesomorph man at 22% body fat is considered overweight; a mesomorph woman at 22% is considered healthy.
